“Rinse, reset, repeat”
130 kilometres and 900 metres of climbing. A big day taken in bike-sized chunks. Awesome riding through the West Coast Wilderness Trail — definitely a favourite day. Surrounded by bush on excellent trails. All the wildlife: birds, kunekune miniature pigs, ducks, happy dogs, cheeky weka, horses, sheep and cows. What more could a girl want. Loads of coffee and tea stops, second breakfasts and extra afternoon teas. Happy riding.
A shout-out to the local bike shop — Hokitika Cycles and Sports — for coming back and opening especially to replace a broken bag for Erica. An awesome day. Accommodation at the Ross Hotel; a great hearty meal celebrating Helena and Gavin's 39th wedding anniversary. Falling into bed exhausted to the sound of a pub crowd and a musician.
Rinse, reset, repeat.

“Stay safe”
Had the best evening last night catching up with a friend I haven't seen for 40 years — felt like it was only yesterday, which makes one appreciate the longevity of true friendships. Thank you Bryan and the lovely Janet.
Had what has become the best day to date: Greymouth to Kumara; Kumara to Cowboy Paradise; Cowboy Paradise to Hokitika; Hokitika to Ross — with the sweetest forest gravel trails ever. Also the yummiest cheese scone at Cowboy Paradise yet, and believe me, I've had many a scone. Tad disappointing there was not a cowboy in sight. Helena and Gavin's 39th wedding anniversary was celebrated appropriately — no wedding attire and I hadn't packed my bridesmaid gown, however our dining attire hit the spot. The apple crumble with ice cream and candle was most celebratory.
Loving life.
